8ft Pedal-Powered Zoetrope for Spectres of Liberty Public Art Project.

The B& broke into Oh Ten in collaboration with Dara, Josh, and Olivia from the Spectres of Liberty project. After just over a week of intensive planning, building models, grinding, welding, chopping, tweaking, and singing, a prototype is born. She’s a beautiful baby zoetrope, measuring 8 feet across and standing around 6 1/2 feet up on her legs. She’ll be joined by a couple more brothers or sisters soon for a public art piece in Syracuse, NY.

WFMU Live Bike-Trailer Broadcast Test Run

Vanessa and Travis of the Band of Bicycles ran a test of the proposed route for the upcoming live radio show with Trent Wolbe of WFMU. The signal is clear, the road is passable, and nearly everyone we passed gave a smile, cheer, or snapped a photo as we sipped seltzer in style.

Where’s My Bananahat?, an original musical production, premiered with the Maple Street School after a week of rehearsal, set construction, and costume creation. Band of Bicycles was there to pedal power the sound for the delighted onlookers in Prospect Park.
